About

During the William Carse Young Performers Award, adjudicators will be seeking students across all Sections who demonstrate performance potential and a genuine love of dancing, while maintaining the Cecchetti qualities of a pure, simple and unaffected natural style.

Three Award winners will be selected, one from each Section, and invited to perform a solo at the Teachers’ Refresher Day in the following year. In addition, a Male Student Award will be presented to a student entered in any Section, along with the Bloch Improvisation Encouragement Award.

Registration (all levels): 9.45 a.m.
Class time (all levels): 11.00 a.m.
Improvisation: 1.00 p.m.
Awards announced: 2.00 p.m.

Sections

Section A: Students working on Grade 5 or Grade 6

Section B: Students working on Intermediate or Advanced 1, attending up to three ballet classes per week after school hours

Section C: Students attending vocational programs or extended weekly classes, involving multiple ballet classes per week, including during school hours

NB: Teachers are to advise students which Section to enter.

Eligibility

Open to all Cecchetti students currently working from Grade 5 to Advanced 1

Students must present their most recent examination report or certificate from within the last two years on the day

Once a student has won an Award, they are not eligible to compete again at the same level, however they may enter at the next level if eligible

Format

Open class format

No elimination

Each competitor will perform a one-minute improvisation

All competitors will receive a certificate of participation and a gift bag

Awards

One winner from each of the three Sections

One Male Student Award (from any Section)

Bloch Improvisation Encouragement Award, presented as a gift voucher

Gift vouchers for all Award winners

Perpetual trophy awarded to each winner for a period of 12 months

Photography Notice

Cecchetti Ballet Australia (Vic) reserves the right to photograph students for promotional purposes. Please advise the event supervisor on the day if you do not wish your child to be photographed.
