Library Lovers Day 2026 - Blackout Poetry Workshop
About
Library Lovers' Day is celebrated on the 14th of February each year, to honour libraries, librarians, and their contributions to society. Join us on Saturday the 14th of February 2026, to celebrate the City of Gosnells' four libraries, their staff, and their role in the community.Blackout poetry is a written and visual art form, in which the artist erases, redacts, or "blacks out" parts of a pre-existing text, leaving the remaining words to form a new poem. The blackout process is often done artistically, so that the poem forms part of a larger visual piece.
Join us at Thornlie Library on Library Lovers Day for a free 3-hour Blackout Poetry workshop with local author and artist Monique Mulligan. Attendees will explore this unique art and poetry style, as they select which words to reuse, recycle, and bring to life in a new way. You'll be surprised what your chosen words reveal!
All materials will be provided - just bring your curiosity and creativity!
Adults only.
Bookings are essential and open to the public on January 31 2026. Spaces are limited to 12 people, so grab your spot quick!
