It is a show about the magic that is created in the meeting of traditions, where shared stories, songs and tunes extend our horizons to new places. It is also about moments, the moment the heart skips as the tune takes off, or the smile of recognition as the cascade of notes form their spell to enchant and spark the memory of home or childhood or love.Come and join us for an evening celebrating the folk traditions of Ireland and the UK in the company of musicians who have lived these traditions in their playing.
Sebastian Flynn – Fiddle and vocals.
Sebastian’s ornate and beautifully decorated style on the fiddle immediately transports us to a place of ritual and celebration. Nobody can resist tapping their foot or becoming wrapped in the plaintive notes of an ancient air.
Jack O’Leary – Guitar, bodhran, and vocals.
Jack draws the past and future together with masterful recitation, singing, and guitar. We walk the ancient roads with him as he sings of everything that is precious and profound.
Martin Reese – Mandolin, shruti box and vocals.
Martin was drawn to the mandolin at an early age and, as he has played, he has found himself going ever deeper into the expressive range of this traditional instrument. Sometimes, as the mandolin and the fiddle combine, each becomes part of the other.
Christian Rizzalli – Bouzouki, stomp, and vocals.
Christian’s touch on the bouzouki unites this ensemble as the morning mist unites the earth and the sky. He is a master of this style of playing and equally happy playing melody or driving accompaniment.
