Vibrant Flower Felting, with extras!
About
In this two and a half hour workshop, youβll be introduced to the art of wet felting, and create stunning, colourful flower shapes out of raw wool, eucalypt and silk. You will turn these shapes into beautifully sculpted flowers, joyful and colourful tealight holders, or simply keep them as decorative art pieces to brighten your home or gift to a friend.Whether youβre a beginner or more experienced at felting, this workshop is an accessible, relaxing and joyful way to create with friends or on your own; to immerse yourself in the sensory soapy wet felting process; and support your wellbeing through art.
Two very small group sessions are on offer, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Both sessions are taught by artist Helena Kookaburra.
The morning session will have extra support from acrylic and mixed media artist Amy Hamlyn. You are invited to consider your learning and accommodation needs, and book the session that feels best suited.
Before or after the workshop you will be welcome to browse the exhibition "Unmasked" which will be running at the gallery (it's free). "Unmasked" is a thought provoking inquiry into inner spaces and what might be revealed if we were able to let our masks slip. Helena and Amy are both exhibiting artists.
Previous students have provided generous feedback on Helena and Amy's teaching style, noting warm, supportive facilitation, increased feelings of calm and wellbeing, and delight in discovering the joyful and sensory experience of wet felting. In response to students requests, the session duration has been extended to 2.5 hours of creative wellbeing and art making.
