Conductor: Michael Milton
Violin: Holly Piccoli
Shostakovich - Festive Overture
Bach - Violin Concerto in E Major
Shostakovich - Symphony No. 5 in D Minor
Two composers. Two centuries apart. This is a concert of contrast, from the elegance and structured form of J.S. Bach's baroque violin concerto, featuring baroque instrumental specialist Holly Piccoli (violin), to the powerful sounds of Dmitri Shostakovich, set among the resistance and defiance against Soviet oppression in the 20th Century.
Session time: 2.30pm, Sunday 29 March 2026
Duration: approx. 2 hours with interval
Ticket prices: adult $20, concession $15, children (17 and under) free, group (8+) discount of 20% available online
------------------------------
Tickets are available online until 1 hour before the session time. Please have your tickets ready to present at the door, either printed or on your smartphone. All advertised prices are inclusive of a 50c per ticket booking fee, which will be added to your order during check-out, and include a complimentary printed or digital program.
Any remaining tickets will be available at the door from 2pm - cash or card. However, as our recent concerts have been popular, we encourage guests to book early online to avoid disappointment.
All seating is general admission. You will need to select either stalls or dress circle when booking. Note that the dress circle has limited visibility to the front of the orchestra and is only accessible by stairs.
For the comfort of others, we kindly ask that children 12 and under are supervised by an adult at all times and remain quiet while the orchestra is performing.
Refunds (excluding the 50c TryBooking fee) are available for change-of-mind up until 48 hours before the event or if you are unable to attend due to illness or extenuating circumstances on the day. All refund requests for online sales must be submitted by email (tickets@nso.org.au) and will not be processed at the venue box office.
