Driving Well OT is hosting a RESEARCH UPDATE webinar for OT Driver Assessors.This workshop is designed for occupational therapy driver assessors who have previously participated in the Potential-to-Drive Workshops
and are interested in current research and its translation into clinical practice.
Dr Emma Sartin (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Chelsea Ward McIntosh (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia), and Miriam Monahan OTD/CDRS, will present a summary of recent research related to driving and community mobility skills in autistic adolescents and young adults.
- The presenters will highlight their team’s recent pilot study examining evidence-based resources for screening and assessment.
- Findings from this study demonstrate the feasibility of developing a standardized driver screening and evaluation process for autistic teens.
- Case examples will be used to illustrate key findings and to support participants in reflecting on the applicability of this research to their own practice.
