February Honours Club - Prof. Peter Gonski
About
Many of us worry about memory changes — in ourselves or in those we love. But not every lapse, pause, or moment of forgetfulness is dementia. In this engaging and reassuring talk, esteemed geriatrician Professor Peter Gonski will explore what’s normal, what’s not, and when it might be time to ask questions. He will discuss how ageing, stress, health, and mood can affect memory, and how dementia is diagnosed. Designed to inform rather than alarm, this session empowers you with knowledge, reduces fear, and encourages confident conversations about brain health.Professor Peter Gonski is Senior Staff Specialist Geriatrician and Director of Aged Care at Sutherland Hospital. He has over 30 years clinical service in acute, rehabilitation and palliative care. He is an innovator of models of care that allow people to remain in and be treated at home. He is Director of Aged Care and Rehabilitation across Southeastern Sydney Local Health District and Conjoint Professor at UNSW and Head of the Sutherland teaching unit. Prof. Gonski is also a Board Member and Honorary Secretary of Montefiore Aged Care.
