Roaring into History Dance
About
Step back in time for an unforgettable evening of music, movement, and memories. A Tribute to Henry F Halloran. Henry was a visionary Australian land developer who shaped Port Stephens communities through innovative planning, gardens, and people-focused suburbs.Enjoy the lively sounds of a jazz and swing quartet, fabulous dancing, and engaging entertainment that captures the spirit of the Roaring Twenties.
The evening will feature a special viewing of a rare 1913 silent film once shown in movie theatres across Sydney and Newcastle to advertise real estate sold by Henry F Halloran, offering a fascinating glimpse into early promotional vision and optimism. Guests will also learn about Halloran and his bold ideas for the subdivision and development of Port Stephens, including Port Stephens City, Salamander Bay, Karuah, and Tanilba Bay, with its distinctive World War I–themed street names and iconic heritage gates and structures.
As you dance the night away, reflect on how much has changed from the 1920s to the 2020s, and how much remains the same—especially people’s enduring love of music, dancing, and coming together. A joyful, nostalgic, and entertaining celebration of history, community, and fun—a night not to be missed.
