Compliance or Defiance: Working the System
How did convict women cope with the convict system in Van Diemen's Land? This seminar will focus on the way convict women navigated the rules and regulations of the convict system: did they submit or did they rebel? Did they choose a path somewhere in-between? Was it a conscious decision or a ‘choice’ they were forced into? What were the consequences of the path they took? How was this reflected in the convict conduct records?
Information & full program: www.femaleconvicts.org.au
Attendance: $60.00 (+ 50c) includes morning tea & lunch; individually boxed special diets $3.00 extra
