1989, the end of a decade and the start of something new. Michael Allen, aka “Mikey”, appeared on the doorstep of Greg Arnold’s Carlton sharehouse with beers in hand and harmonies in head. “There were no gigs to hustle and no recordings to make,” Greg says, “we sang and drank for the fun of it.”Nearly 40 years on Greg and Mikey are doing a special run of shows as Things of Stone and Wood (The Original Duo) to launch the brand-new acoustic album “Rae St” - recorded in Melbourne and the band’s first since 2003, proving the band is still an artistic force to be reckoned with.
To launch the album the band were looking to do something unique, so they are leaning into the DIY folk-vibe of the record and playing the uber-intimate Merri Creek Tavern. Come and hear the new album alongside fan favourites like “Happy Birthday Helen”, “Wildflowers”, and “Share This Wine”.
