Horizon + Peter Freebairn
In August Melbourne rock band Horizon played for the first time in nearly ten years to a packed house in Fitzroy. Now they return for a rare Melbourne appearance on Saturday 7th March 2026 at George Lane, St Kilda. With limited live appearances and premium seating strictly capped, demand is expected to be high.
The performance draws from Horizon’s recently released album, with selections performed live by the band that recorded it. The album will also be available on the night on CD and limited-edition 180-gram vinyl.
Led by composer and singer-songwriter Lee Bradshaw, Horizon features an acclaimed lineup: guitarist Brett Garsed (John Farnham), drummer Angus Burchall (John Farnham, The Black Sorrows), and bassist Rich Panaia (Christine Anu, Aaron Shembri). The set includes material featuring the late Stuart Fraser (Noiseworks), whose guitar work appears on the album and remains a defining part of its sound.
Their sound is heavy rock. Their album carries the weight, craft, and depth of musicians who have spent their lives in Australian music, standing as a classic and self-contained work within that tradition. Drawing on 1970s British blues and progressive rock, the sound moves confidently between classic and modern territory.
Completed in 2017, the body of work was released in 2025 with the blessing of Fraser’s family following his passing in 2019. A feature-length documentary, built from extensive studio footage and new interviews, is currently in production.
Horizon’s performance on the night is joined by soul backing vocalists The Sonettes - Lucca Franco, Lhēon, and Shann.
