Accidental Counsellor Training (SOLD OUT)
About
Professionals who support older adults often find themselves providing emotional support during moments of distress – sometimes unexpectedly. While they may not be trained counsellors, having the right skills can make a profound difference in these interactions.
We are offering Accidental Counsellor Training, an online accredited program designed specifically for people working with older adults. This training provides practical, compassionate strategies to help you respond effectively and confidently when seniors need emotional or psychological support.
This workshop will help your staff:
✔ Use active listening techniques to help older adults feel heard and respected
✔ Apply clear, calm communication skills in high-stress or emotionally charged situations
✔ Provide basic crisis intervention tools to support individuals experiencing distress, anxiety, or overwhelm
✔ Set healthy, professional boundaries to maintain personal wellbeing and prevent burnout
✔ Use de-escalation techniques to manage difficult conversations safely and respectfully
✔ Build trust and rapport quickly, creating a supportive and empowering environment for older adults
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) POINTS
You may be eligible to claim CPD points upon completion of this course. However, requirements vary, so please confirm with your relevant professional body before making a claim.
