Illume Learning presents a full-day professional learning event with internationally recognised inclusive education expert Dr Paula Kluth, focused on supporting students with intellectual disability.
Designed for teachers, school leaders, support staff, allied health professionals and families, this highly practical workshop focuses on what works in real classrooms.
Across the day, you’ll gain strategies to:
- Build inclusive school and classroom practices that work in everyday settings
- Break down barriers and use disability-affirming approaches with students with intellectual disability
- Apply Universal Design for Learning to plan lessons, tasks and assessments
- Support behaviour positively and reduce challenging moments
- Use co-teaching effectively and strengthen the role of teaching assistants
- Support students with Down syndrome to build independence and participation
- Plan from strengths and presume competence
Presented by Dr Kluth alongside Rachel Carr and Amanda Corby, with a guest speaker sharing lived experience, this day is packed with practical, evidence-based ideas you can take back to your school and use immediately.
