ELLA HOOPER LIVE AT GREG COOLEY WINES
About
Ella Hooper burst onto the Australian music scene as the technicolour front woman of Killing Heidi. An unlikely success story and the recipients of four ARIA's, the teenage band from the bush went on to explode the naughties, claiming pop rock dominion over the turn of the millennium with a string of hit singles, sold out tours, a no.1 album, Rolling Stone covers and more! The first ever woman and youngest person to be awarded APRA’s Songwriter of the Year Award her songwriting pedigree has only deepened across a rich solo career spanning synth folk, alt-rock, country and Americana. Now three albums deep Ella also balances a successful side hustle hosting multiple TV and radio shows, including the hit music trivia shows Spicks And Specks, RockWiz and most recently music/disability docuseries, HEADLiNERS for ABC TV.
Fresh from supporting greats like James Taylor and Chris Isaak, she's hitting the road with a sharp, heartfelt edge to her ever-evolving take on Americana. Ella's gift for storytelling and humor shines as she fronts a dynamic 4 piece band laced with fiddle, guitar, warm group harmonies and more than a little grit. Playing some favorites from Small Town Temple - the album that debuted at No 1. on the Australian country chart, Ella will also be sharing a sneak peek of new music recorded in Nashville in 2025.
There are bar room stompers, spectral ballads with a contemporary edge and hooks sharp enough to draw blood. Call it Americana, call it alt-country, call it what you like. Hooper puts it this way: 'Can you really go country' if you're from the country in the first place?"
