Kwinana School Holiday Workshops July 2026
Make a splash these July school holidays at Barking Gecko Arts' workshop, inspired by our upcoming production "Walk of the Whales".
Young creatives will dive deep into the mysteries of the ocean, learning drama skills and theatre-making techniques while exploring friendship, imagination, and the magic of storytelling. In a safe and supportive environment, participants will build connections, grow their confidence, and discover how small changes can make a big difference.
Based on Nick Bland's award-winning picture book and adapted by Gita Bezard, "Walk of the Whales" is a heartwarming story about cross-species friendship, standing up for what's right, and protecting the places we call home.

SUITABLE FOR AGES: 8 - 12
VENUE: Koorliny Arts Centre, 10 Hutchins Way, Kwinana Town Centre
DATES: Tuesday 14 July - Friday 17 July 2026
TIMES: 09:30 am - 03:30 pm each day
FOCUS: Drama, theatre making and performance skills, storytelling, devising, improvisation, collaboration, ensemble work, self-expression and self-confidence
THEMES AND CONCEPTS: Displacement, environmental stewardship and pollution, responsibility and care
PRICE: $154.25 (price includes ticket and processing fees)
Thanks to the generous support of the City of Kwinana, this school holiday workshop program is offered at a subsidised rate.
Please note:
- Enrolment in the program is for the whole 4 days. It is not possible to attend single days of the program
- Food and drinks are not included in the program. Participants are required to bring their own food and drinks.
