What is Challenging Behaviour and Why Does It Occur?
About
Challenging behaviour can be confusing, exhausting, and hard to respond to — especially when caring for a child with trauma, disability, or complex needs. This interactive three-hour workshop is designed specifically for Volunteer Foster and Kinship Carers and is delivered by Build Up NT, an experienced Northern Territory–based provider specialising in behaviour support.
The session explores why challenging behaviour occurs, including the impact of trauma, disability, unmet needs, and environmental factors. Carers will be supported to make sense of professional language and assessments, and to build practical, strengths-based approaches that can reduce stress and escalation at home.
Build Up NT facilitators keep the training practical, respectful, and grounded in real caring situations, with strategies that can be used straight away.
This workshop is free for Volunteer Foster and Kinship Carers.
