FKCANT is excited to host a special April school holiday cultural activity for foster and kinship carers and the children in their care, delivered by Dale Austin and the team from Dingo Cockatoo Aboriginal Culture.Dale and his team bring a wealth of cultural knowledge, warmth, and experience working with children and families. Their sessions are known for being engaging, hands-on, and welcoming — creating a space where children and carers can learn together through shared experiences.
During the session, families will be invited to take part in a range of cultural activities, including ochre painting, pandanus weaving, and traditional cooking using a ground oven. Children will have the opportunity to learn about bush foods, how they are prepared, and the cultural significance of sharing food, stories, and time together.
This is a relaxed, outdoor experience designed to celebrate culture, connection, and community. Activities are interactive and family-friendly, allowing children and carers to participate side-by-side at their own pace. Feedback from previous sessions delivered by Dale and his team has been overwhelmingly positive, with families valuing both the cultural learning and the sense of belonging created on the day.
