Boys, screens and social media
Following a detailed inquiry, at the end of 2025 the Federal Government passed legislation that banned young people from accessing social media. This meant that anyone under the age of 16 was blocked from using platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook.
The research strongly suggests that excess time on screens negatively impacts the social, physical and mental health of young people. Screens, particularly mobile phones, also interfere with the attention needed for effective learning. As a school community, we are in a unique position to help our young people manage their technology use.
On Wednesday 11 February at 7pm, join us for a webinar to learn about what the research is telling us and how we can work together to help reduce our children’s overall screen usage and empower them to use technology in more healthy ways.
