DBT Skills in Schools, with Renée Valentino
WORKSHOP SUMMARY & MEET RENéE
TSPA is thrilled to be hosting psychologist, Renée Valentino, for a 2-day workshop focused on using DBT in schools. The workshop is designed to equip school psychologists, counsellors, and social workers with practical strategies to support young people in managing emotions and improving relationships.Renée is a highly respected psychologist working in schools and private practice, who also has a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy. Renée has worked for over 15 years across community organisations, mental health services, private practice and within the Education Department, learning valuable lessons from her colleagues, clients and families along that journey. Renowned for working with children and adolescents presenting with complex and high-risk conditions, Renée is deeply passionate about connecting with young people, listening to and celebrating their opinions, beliefs, hopes and dreams, and identifying their unique strengths and challenges. With a focus on nurturing the whole person, Renée employs a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) approach to help young people and their families understand vulnerabilities and make positive changes in their connections with themselves, the people around them, and their broader communities. By building on existing resources, Renée empowers individuals to lead meaningful and engaged lives. Always learning and endlessly passionate about her work, what sets Renée apart is her dedication to connecting with others on a human level, recognising and celebrating the unique quirks and strengths that make each person special.
