Junior Fundraising Match - Blackburn Cricket Club (CANCELLED)
About
The Junior Fundraising Match will take place with two events this season and promises to be a great social event for people who are involved with or want to support Blackburn Cricket Club.Draft Night - Thursday,12th February - 6-10pm at Morton Park
Junior Fundraising Match - Saturday 21st February - 5.30pm - Late at Morton Park
This will be a highly social activity (modified rules will be in place) for the people who are involved with the Junior sections of the Blackburn Cricket Club, along with friends who want to either enjoy a game of cricket or cheer from the sidelines.
We encourage people to invite their friends and have some fun in supporting the Blackburn Cricket Club.
Our goal is to also use the event as a fundraiser for the junior cricket program. Players will be asked to pay $25 to play which will kick off our fundraising efforts and get each player 2 drink vouchers for the 21st February event. We hope this will become an annual event that will grow in popularity over time.
More detail on each event is below:
Draft Night - Thursday,12th February - 6-10pm at Morton Park
This will be a night that all our players can hopefully get along to and is where we will select teams based on the cricketing background of players. We will have 3 "buckets" to select teams from which will be 1. Cricketers who have played a good level, 2. People who have played junior cricket. 3. People who have played minimal or no cricket.
We will undertake the "draft" and enjoy a few beers beyond this to help with our fundraising activities.
Junior Fundraising Match - Saturday 21st February - 5.30pm - Late at Morton Park
The game will be a highly modified form of cricket that will be geared around fun (not cricketing heroes!). Some aspects include:
Super 7s ball or similar to be used - not a cricket ball
Timed innings, expected to be 60 mins.
Modified rules (short run ups, fielding restrictions, no need to rebowl wides or no balls)
Free Hit for your first ball
Short boundaries
Player retire at 15 balls or 20 runs
Max 2 overs per bowler
Hit the Bin or Sign prizes
Awards after the match (best shot, best ball, best catch, best stuff up etc..)
