Was Jesus’ famous Last Supper a Passover Seder? Explore the longstanding debate at the intersection of Jewish and Christian history with educator and historian Paul Forgasz.

While the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) describe the meal as a Passover celebration, the Gospel of John suggests otherwise. Examine the differing Gospel accounts of Jesus’ famous final meal before his arrest and crucifixion, and unpack their various theological and historical implications. Celebrate the holy days of Easter and Passover falling at the same time this year, and reflect on the diversity of ritual, tradition and interpretation at the Jewish Museum of Australia.

Paul Forgasz is a scholar of Jewish history and culture. Known for his extensive knowledge of Jewish thought and tradition, and his engaging lectures and publications, Paul has facilitated programs all across Melbourne. Paul has led many study tours overseas, taking participants on fascinating journeys of Jewish history, including Poland, Spain, Greece and Morocco.
