1st North Balwyn Scouts
Great Ocean Walk (Elliot Ridge to Aire River) - Hike
About
As part of the Australian Scout Award, Holly has planned a hike on a section of the Great Ocean Walk. This is a 3-day coastal and forest hike through the Great Otway National Park, designed for Scouts who enjoy adventure, teamwork, and exploring Victoria’s natural landscapes.
- The journey begins with a short forest walk to Elliot Ridge Campsite, followed by a full day hiking through tall eucalypt forest, coastal heath, and woodland to Cape Otway, near the historic lighthouse. On the final day, the route follows clifftop tracks and coastal scrub before descending into the Aire River valley, finishing at Aire River East Campsite.
This hike offers a mix of challenging walking, beautiful coastal scenery, and overnight camping, while building independence, navigation skills, and teamwork. The journey follows marked tracks and approved campsites and is suitable for Scouts with basic multi-day hiking experience.
To attend you must have completed an Overnight Hike previously at Scouts (includes Scout Hike). There are only limited places available.
1st North Balwyn can provide a hiking back-pack if you don't have one.
