Post Vention Planning
About
Be You and Austin ICYMHS have partnered with Inner East SSS to present free half day suicide postvention planning workshops for school leadership and wellbeing staff.‘Suicide postvention’ is a term used to indicate response activities that assist those impacted by suicide to cope with what has occurred and is an important element of an end- to-end suicide prevention model.
Postvention planning assists secondary schools to enhance their capacity to respond to a death by suicide in their community. A postvention plan is a critical incident management plan specifically for incidents of suicide impacting the school community.
These workshops are an opportunity for schools to begin developing a postvention plan, or to review and update an existing postvention plan.
It is understood that schools may be at different stages in developing these plans – and these workshops are optional supports for you.
SSS staff will assist you during the workshop and explain their role in supporting schools postvention management.
We will also be joined by the Austin CYMHS Community Engagement and Partnerships Coordinators who are available to support Schools and Agencies with a postvention response to their children, young people, parents/ carers, and staff (whole Communities).
