“Impacted Maxillary Canine - A Tooth On Detour”

Join us for the ANZSPD Victorian Branch February 2026 Dinner Meeting
This lecture will explore the clinical presentation, aetiology, diagnosis and
management of impacted maxillary canines. Particular emphasis will be placed on
the risk of resorption of adjacent teeth, current evidence regarding its incidence and
strategies to reduce the likelihood of impaction, through timely diagnosis and early
intervention.
Jeff Lipshatz is a clinical orthodontist who has practiced in Caulfield for over 30
years. He is also a consultant orthodontist in the Cleft Palate Unit at Monash
Hospital, a role he has held for more than a decade. He has lectured in Australia and
internationally on the topic of impacted canines and has recently conducted and
published research on the incidence of lateral incisor root resorption associated with
impacted maxillary canines.
