The UCLN Pollinator Project - more than a few bees
About
John WalterMalmsbury Landcare and Upper Campaspe Landcare Network
Noted local field naturalist and nature photographer, John Walter, has spent much of his non-working life observing and recording nature in the wilder parts of Victoria.
Following a move to Drummond in 2001, he first turned his attention to our local flora before bringing his camera to bear on our fungi in 2010 and the mosses and liverworts in 2012.
John then began recording local moths in 2017 and expanding this interest to include all insect life in 2021 with the advent of the UCLN Pollinator Project.
John was an important contributor to the Mosses of Dry Forests in South Eastern Australia in 2014 and produced the Guide to Insects of Central Victoria on behalf of the local shires in 2022. He then made a significant contribution to their Guide to Grasses of Central Victoria in 2023.
Copies of the last two will be available on the night. John is currently working on an illustrated publication covering our local native bee species, with plans to cover some other insect groups in future years.
