Did you know Australia now produces 2.5 million tonnes of plastic waste each year, equating to 100kg per person. Of this, only 13% of plastic is recovered and 84% of it is sent to landfill! Clean Up Australia Day's mission is to inspire and mobilise communities to care for and protect our environment, eliminate litter, and end waste. What started as a simple idea from an “average Australian” wanting to make a difference in his own backyard, has now grown to become the nation’s largest community-based environmental event.This year, Myuna Farm is excited to be taking part in Clean Up Australia Day! Myuna Farm sits on the banks of the Dandenong Creek and backs onto the Myuna Wetlands, an important habitat for waterbirds and Grey-Headed Flying Foxes. By taking part in a Clean Up you can help us stop rubbish entering these waterways. Accompanied by our friendly staff, you can also meet the farms residents and help clean up their home.
This event is suitable for all ages, (children accompanied by an adult). Closed shoes and mosquito repellant is advised. This event will involve a moderate amount of walking.
