Basketmakers of Victoria Inc. ‘Landscape Shopper ‘ Workshop (SOLD OUT)
About
At the conclusion of this two-day workshop, you will have made your own unique shopper with a woven base, designed body, braided border and handles. Along the way, you will gain knowledge of basic weaving techniques and an understanding of the properties of natural fibres. You will be guided in using other materials to add visual attraction to your basket.The two sessions at the Cottage are separated by a week to give you time to grow the sides of the basket in readiness to learn and complete the finishing techniques on the second day.
Your tutor, Edit Meaklim, has studied Fashion Design and Production, and worked in industry. She later entered Technical Teaching, acquiring skills in order to teach a variety of hand crafts eg. weaving, knotting, leatherwork and sewing. Edit enjoys making using a variety of materials.
Edit has been a member of Basketmakers since 1998, during which time she has conducted many workshops and demonstrations in addition to taking part in BOV exhibitions.
