CELEBRATE NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK!
Step out of the office to celebrate National Volunteer Week 2026 and get your hands dirty planting native trees to restore the natural environment at Marri Badoo Reserve in Rydalmere.
National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering. It recognises the contribution of millions of volunteers across the country and invites everyone to discover how giving their time and talents can create connection, purpose, and stronger communities.
About the event & activities
You will planting native trees, shrubs and grasses to revegetate the Marri Badoo Reserve in Rydalmere. This area was previously degraded by invasive weed species such as Lantana camara, Privet, and Coral Trees which disrupted native vegetation and ecological function. With the weeds now removed, the area is ready to be planted with local endemic species to restore native vegetation and create habitat fore local fauna including the Powerful Owl, Ringtail Possums, and microbats.
No experience necessary!
Experienced Landcare supervisors will provide a safety briefing and toolbox talk and support you throughout the day with each task, and will provide information on best-practice planting methods and share their local environmental knowledge.
This activity requires a moderate to high level of physical activity, however please contact us if you have any concerns as we can often modify things to ensure all your team can participate.

Gloves, tools and equipment required for the day
Please bring a refillable water bottle, wear suitable clothing (inc. sturdy, enclosed shoes, long sleeved shirt and pants) and a hat. It’s recommended you pack wet weather gear as events will go ahead in most weather conditions.
