Deepening Practice - a Contact Improvisatiom research
About
Coming back to our Contact Improvisation community recently makes me feel both deeply happy and inspired.I love how we grow.
I love how we show up for one another. The warmth, the openness, the willingness to stay in conversation through the body.
Over the past 20 years, CI has been a form I’ve lived inside of: researching, practising, questioning, and returning again and again. This workshop stems from that long relationship.
We will touch both the technical aspects of dancing together and the underlying attitude I’ve learned from this form: the value of research, of staying with an idea long enough to really meet it, and then letting it go. Trusting the body’s natural intelligence. Learning about the logic of anatomy and locomotion, and allowing integration to unfold rather than forcing it.
The work is relational at all times.
We’ll explore how thinking, sensing, and moving can coexist without letting the dance be dominated by one hemisphere of the brain. The body stays in dialogue. The dance stays alive.
This workshop is an invitation to dancers in our community who are NOT in their first steps with Contact Improvisation and who may notice that the more they learn, the more questions arise. For those who feel a desire to keep opening possibilities to dance the dance itself, not only the familiar, comfortable patterns they already know.
If you’re curious to deepen, to unsettle what you know just enough to allow change, I hope this space will meet you.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
