19th Century Technology in the 21st Century
About
Operating heritage trams over 100 years since they were designed and built creates unique and interesting problems for the Ballarat Tramway Museum. The Museum has to exist in a modern world of rules, regulations, and technological changes. The trams have to be able to operate safely in the 21st century. For example, we can no longer protect electrical equipment with asbestos. Replacement parts are simply not available. Changes are not optional, but mandatory. This event explores the challenges of managing and restoring a heritage tram fleet in 2026. Join our experts for a behind-the scenes look at the work of the Ballarat Tramway Museum. The ticket includes Museum entry, talk, guided tour, tram ride, and morning/afternoon tea. Not suitable for children.Location
