SingChat with Kate Albury - Middle School Boys' Voices
Join Kate for a practical and insightful session exploring how to engage, support, and inspire middle school boys in choral programs. This PD unpacks effective strategies for recruitment and retention, as well as how to create a rehearsal environment where boys feel confident, capable, and safe to sing.
We'll delve into voice placement and monitoring voice change, thoughtful repertoire selection that goes beyond stereotypes (including some of Kate’s go-to pieces), and ways to build rehearsals that are fun, energetic, and focused on expressive story-telling. Kate will also share ideas for meaningful performance opportunities, collaborative projects, and pathways to grow your own skills and confidence as a conductor.
Whether you’re new to conducting or refining an established program, you’ll leave with practical tools, creative ideas, and proven approaches for building strong culture, healthy vocal development, and vibrant engagement in middle school boys’ choirs.
