Japan-based duo, Také to Ito, is Curtis Patterson / koto and Bruce Huebner / shakuhachi, long-term residents of Japan with over 40 years of study and performance on traditional Japanese instruments. Touring Australia this April performing a range of music from classical honkyoku and jiuta to jazz with fresh arrangements and original works. Experience the exquisite inner world of elite kengyo blind masters of koto and the mendicant komuso monks of Zen shakuhachi through music from the Edo period, traversing mountains, skies, flowing rivers and serene bays.Bruce Huebner is a globally recognised master of the shakuhachi, the first non-Japanese person to graduate from the Japanese Traditional Music Department of the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, under the tutelage of National Treasure Yamaguchi Goro. Curtis Patterson (koto, shamisen, bass koto) is an accomplished koto master who studied with Keiko Iwahori and with the modern koto luminary, Tadao Sawai and is the first foreigner to graduate from the NHK traditional Japanese music performance program.
