What IS soil? During this session, children will:
• Learn what soil is (not just “dirt!”)
• Understand why soil is alive and important
• Meet one soil superhero: the worm
• Explore real soil from their own home
• Create and/or draw to deepen learning

FOR THIS SESSION YOUR CHILD WILL NEED:
• A small container of soil (from garden, pot plant, park—where allowed)
• A piece of paper or a plate
• Optional: magnifying glass, spoon
