The only person immune to Bunthorne's charms is the simple, sensible milkmaid, Patience. She doesn't understand what "love" is supposed to feel like, but she is determined find out and to do her duty - even if it means choosing a miserable existence.
Things get even more complicated when a second "idyllic" poet arrives, sparking a hilarious battle of egos, velvet suits and ridiculous poses,
