2026 Fr Willcock SJ Instrumental Heats - Brass Only
About
The annual Fr Willcock SJ instrumental and Vocal Competition is coming up for 2026, with heats beginning in Week 4 of this term. This year, there will be Junior, Senior and Open sections in Instrumental and Vocal, as well as Junior and Senior sections in Composition and an Open section in Chamber Music. Full details and guidelines, including what students need to do to prepare, can be found on Manresa.For the heats, students must prepare an excerpt up to two minutes in length unaccompanied. This can be a whole piece or just a section, as long as it does not exceed two minutes.
In 2026, there will be TWO (2) rounds of Heats for all instrumentalists. The first round will be in instrument families in front of a specialised judge who will select a number of students to go through to the second round. The second round will include all instrument families.
For all Vocal Sections, there will be ONE (1) heat.
