Friday 13th March 2026 'DARK’ LIGHTHOUSE SITE TOUR
Historical tales at the Cape Schanck Lighthouse
Dare to walk the Lighthouse grounds after dark!
Friday 13th March 2026, 6:30 pm
Capacity: 20 participants only
166 years ago on 30 June 1859 the Cape Schanck Lighthouse was first illuminated by
Head Lighthouse keeper Robert Bowie and his Assistant William Fish and has operated every night to this day ever since.
On this 'Dark' Lighthouse site tour you never know who you will meet in a
torchlight walk around the lighthouse grounds or at the lookout beneath the lighthouse.
This Tour starts from the Red Brick House inside the Lighthouse precinct at 6:30 pm
Please arrive at the Lighthouse gate by 6.20pm for entry.
Note: Gate closes at 6pm, so we will have to let you in if you arrive after that time.
Note: By order of AMSA we cannot conduct Lighthouse tours after the Lighthouse is illuminated.
Therefore this tour will start with a tour of the Lighthouse promptly at 6:30 pm
(2 groups of 10 if necessary) followed by a walk around the Lighthouse grounds and buildings
(weather permitting).
The tour will start and finish at the Red Brick House and we will facilitate entry
and exit for participants via the Lighthouse personnel gate,
which closes to the public at 6:00 pm.
Please park in the Cape Schanck car park and walk down the path to the West
to the Lighthouse gate.
