Breathe, Sing, Smile
About
I'm offering a gentle, fun, space to explore your voice and enjoy the beauty of your own sound. Outrageous, right? Imagine actually liking your own voice. One of my greatest joys in sharing singing is watching people reconnect with their voice — and slowly undo those little scars left by thoughts like “I’m tone deaf” or “I don’t have a good voice.” Seeing the surprise on someone’s face when they hear their voice sounding lovely… it’s a beautiful thing.
In our workshops, we’ll begin with about 30 minutes of yoga-style stretching, voice warming, gentle movement, breathing and mindful exploration. From there, we’ll move into some simple singing exercises using scales and techniques drawn from a variety of approaches. Then we’ll enjoy the bliss of singing together.
Expect a mix of:
• soothing chants
• Appalachian-style harmony
• and a few disco tunes to really have fun with
Fun and beauty — that’s the aim.
I began singing at 17 and have worked as a musician for over 35 years. My journey has included country, jazz, MOR, folk and indie performance, songwriting, choir leading, teaching both children and adults, and mentoring teachers. I’ve also spent more than 20 years working in schools, mostly with secondary students.
Now I’m living in the beautiful South Gippsland region, and looking forward to travelling, meeting new friends, and sharing song along the way.
Friday afternoon and Evening are a repeat od the same session for those who work during the day. Satudray will build on Friday's session but is also suitable as a stand alone session.
I'm also doing a house concert in Quorn on Sunday afternoon, check that out too.
