Captain Moonlite
About
Presented by Melville TheatreWritten by Jye Bryant
Directed by Josie McAllister
Many Australians have heard of the bush ranger known as Captain Moonlite. Very few people know his true story. This original Australian musical, which premiered in 2019, tells the tale of Andrew George Scott, his descent into a life of crime, the love he shared with his accomplice James Nesbitt, and ultimately his execution. At its heart, Captain Moonlite is a piece about injustice - the way the truth can be obscured by lies and rumours, the way true love can be damned by judgement and tragedy, and the way decent people can be turned into boogeymen. Full of beautiful folk-inspired music and moments both energetic and tender, Jye Bryant’s Captain Moonlite is sure to be a show to remember.
This production contains adult themes with scenes including violence and gambling.
