*Event Description:
Clean Up Australia Day is Australia's largest community-based environmental event, held annually on the first Sunday in March to encourage communities to clean up and conserve their local environment by removing litter from parks, beaches, and waterways.
All sections (Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders) from Woodend Scout Group are invited to help clean up the "Scout Billabong", which is the area behind the Scout Hall, near the tennis courts. With enough participants, we also hope to extend the clean up to the Five Mile Creek path behind the Woodend Swimming Pool and Visitor Centre.
On arrival at the scout hall, participants will be issued a hi-ves vest. Please bring along your own protective gloves (gardening gloves or similar).
For Joeys and Cubs - parent/guardian supervision required please.
Participants may wish to turn this into a Special Interest Area (SIA) project! Scouts of all ages can earn an SIA badge while doing their bit for the environment. Speak to your leader for more information on how your can earn this badge.
