Entries are now open for Winter 2026 Junior Competition at Ashburton Tennis Club.

All Junior members are eligible to register for a SATURDAY or SUNDAY morning team.

Waverley (WDTA)

Season dates

• Season: 2/3 May – 22/23 August
• Finals: 29/30 August – 5/6 September
• Grand Final spare: 12/13 September
• No play: 6/7 June (King’s Birthday weekend), 27 June – 5 July (Term 2 school holidays)

Match times

• Saturdays & Sundays, starts 8:15am, latest finish by 12:15pm

Format

• Triples: Team of three (squad of 4-5); players to play one singles and two doubles sets
• Rubbers: Team of two (squad of 3-4); players to play one singles and one doubles rubber (best of two sets)

Grade structure

• Triples: From C Special to D grade (D grade use low compression balls)
• Rubbers: Presidents Cup to B grade

Cost

• $50 per player
• Players must also be an ATC member to play

Requirements

• Please be aware that players who are selected in a club team are expected to play for the entire season (unless otherwise notified)
• Please consider very carefully your availability before registration. You have a responsibility to yourself, your team and the Club to play when rostered. Selection into future season teams will consider player and parent adherence to this commitment in this season.
• WDTA requirements:
  • A minimum of one parent per team must be present for the entire match
  • A $100 fine will be charged if no parent is present
  • Police are to be called after 10 minutes if a child is left unsupervised
  • Venue supervisors are not responsible for supervision
• Parents need to be available to act as a Home Venue Supervisor on 1-2 occasions per season and staying until all matches are completed.
• Teams will be selected according to the best guides we have as to their order of merit. While we try, it is not always possible to arrange for friends to play on the same team. Coaches from Next Gen Tennis will assist with selection of teams. Similarly, we are not always able to place all players into a team. In this case, registration fees will be refunded.
• Refunds will be given under the following conditions:
  •  To any player not allocated to a team.
  • If you have a medical condition which prevents you from playing after teams have been submitted to WDTA (i.e. broken arm etc).
  • Please note: Refunds will not be given for 'change of mind' after teams have been submitted to WDTA.

Registrations close midnight Saturday 28 February - early registration appreciated.
