Bellydancers Strike A Pose for Palestine (SOLD OUT)
About
Dancers, how would you like to be photographed by renowned belly dance photographer Alma Sarhan in her studio and at the same time support families and the children of Gaza in Palestine.This fundraising event is suitable for all belly dancers, traditional, tribal or fusion, student or experienced performer. Alma (a dancer for over 30 years) knows what makes a good pose and will show you how to perform in front of the lens and learn the classic poses for a belly dance shoot.
Alma will be joined by two amazing dancers, Rose Ottaviano and Liz Grzyb, who are very experienced in front of a camera. They will guide you, help you relax and show you some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your shoot.
As belly dancers we drawn on and benefit greatly from the music and arts of the Middle East. Palestine has a rich history in the arts, with their own distinctive music, costumes, and unique style of Dabke which many of us know and love. This is a chance to give something back to a community in urgent need of help. All proceeds go to Perth Doctors Medical Aid for Palestine.
About Strike A Pose
This takes place in Alma's studio with full professional lighting. Rose and Liz will be there to help you before you step in front of the camera. Come in full makeup/hair and please bring one costume. Once booked, you will be invited to join a Facebook group where we will give you example poses you can practice plus tips on photography make up. We’ll also allocate you a time on the day. After the shoot you can choose two images that will be supplied as high resolution. We have kept the cost affordable and in line with the annual WAMED workshops.
About the charity
In consultation with friends in the Palestinian community the proceeds will go to Perth Doctors Medical Aid for Palestine. They raise funds for The Palestinian Red Crescent and UNRWA, who work tirelessly to make a tangible difference in the lives of the people of Gaza. The money will directly impact the work of these reputable organizations on the front lines. Both UNRWA and the Red Crescent have a proven track record of delivering aid where needed in the most challenging conditions, providing healthcare, education, shelter and so much more.
We wish to emphasise this fundraising event is non-political and based on humanitarian need.
