STATE OF MINDYEAR 11 DRAMAState of Mind is a workshop-style performance that deepens students’ exploration of Representational Theatre through the form of Realism. Building on their developing acting practice, students investigate the techniques of Konstantin Stanislavski and Uta Hagen, focusing on emotional truth, observation, objectives, and the inner life of character. Guided by their classroom teacher, students engage with scenes from the classic Australian realist play Cosi by Louis Nowra. Through this text, they examine the delicate balance between humour and vulnerability, while exploring themes of connection, identity, and belonging. Students apply Stanislavski and Hagen techniques to create credible character relationships, truthful ensemble work, and performances grounded in psychological realism. This showing invites audiences to witness students as they refine their ability to analyse text, embody complex characters, and craft performances that reflect both the extraordinary and deeply human moments found within everyday life.
