About

You are invited to an evening of thoughtful conversation in celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.

Held at La Valla Hall, the evening will commence at 5:30pm with light refreshments prior to our guest speaker, offering guests the opportunity to connect and network in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The event will conclude at 7:00pm

Guest Speakers:
AMELIA ADAMS
Amelia Adams has been a journalist for more than 23 years; 17 of those with the Nine Network. Before joining the 60 Minutes team in 2022, she was Nine’s Senior Foreign Correspondent in North America. Amelia’s live reporting from the US Capitol during the January 6 insurrection saw her win two Kennedy Awards and a Walkley nomination. She has reported from war zones in Ukraine and Iraq. She was also Nine’s Europe and Middle East Correspondent for several years.

CYNTHIA BANHAM
Cynthia Banham is a writer, journalist and lawyer, and the author of three non-fiction books. Her second, A Certain Light: A Memoir of Family, Loss and Hope, was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, Non-fiction Book of the Year. After six-years working as a solicitor in Sydney, she turned her hand to journalism spending a decade as a journalist in the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery, as foreign affairs and defence correspondent and, most recently, diplomatic editor. In 2018 she left academia to pursue a full-time career in creative writing. Her latest book, Mother Shadow: A Meditation on Maternal Inheritance, will be published by Upswell in April.

A special vote of thanks to be offered by Danielle Cronin, Executive Director, Sydney Catholic Schools.

You are most warmly invited to attend, and to extend this invitation to family and friends. Students are very welcome to join us, provided they attend with a parent or guardian. The event is open and inclusive for all, though we anticipate that teenagers who are in, or preparing to enter, their senior years of schooling will be best placed to engage deeply with the themes explored.

We look forward to welcoming you for an evening that celebrates women, conversation, and community.

All ticket sales from the evening will be donated to Project Compassion in support of "Uniting Against Poverty".
