Consent in research - who, why and how
Session overview
Respecting a person’s autonomy and dignity starts with ensuring they can make a truly informed choice about taking part in research. But what does informed consent actually involve? What must participants be told? Does consent always need to be written? Can the true purpose of a study ever be concealed? And who needs to be informed, and when?
Join us to explore the core principles and practical realities of consent in human research—equipping you with the clarity and confidence to design and deliver ethically sound studies
During this session, you will learn about:
- The history of consent to research
- The National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research requirements for consent
- The different methods of consent
- Waivers of consent
