Home and Hearth: Home Life Before Modern Convenience
About
Welcome to Heritage Month, Old Gippstown Heritage Park has collated some tours during this month to highlight this year's theme on "Change".The Home & Hearth tour conducted by our volunteers will show how life in the home was like before modern convenience. Your tour guide will take you through the historic homestead of Angus McMillan called Bushy Park. This 1848 homestead shows you daily life at the time, changing roles and routines for the domestic woman as well as how households had to adapt to make way for new family members, visitors and passers-by when you lived in isolation.
The park is 8 acres of gardens and many more buildings that you can explore after your tour, there is also a cafe on-site for your enjoyment. We have ample parking, including long vehicles and disabled parking and an electric vehicle charging station. Book today to enjoy this special tour.
