G.H. Mumm Champagne Tasting
About
For this event, the house of G.H. Mumm steps into the spotlight — but without the label to guide you.The Wine Appreciation Society presents a global blind tasting of Mumm Prestige vs Mumm Champagne — a head-to-head (and continent-to-continent) challenge.
You’ll taste the Mumm Prestige wines crafted beyond Champagne — from:
• Tasmania, Australia – cool maritime fruit from regions such as the Coal River Valley and Tamar Valley
• Napa Valley, USA – sun-lit Californian precision and generosity
• Central Otago, NZ – high-altitude tension and purity
• Marlborough, NZ – bright acidity and crystalline fruit
All made predominantly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using the traditional method.
And then — the benchmark:
True Champagne — sourced from grand vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs, where chalk soils and centuries of savoir-faire define the world’s most famous sparkling wine.
Everything poured blind.
No red sash. No country call-outs. No clues.
Can you pick the Champagne?
Does terroir speak clearly across hemispheres?
Or has the New World mastered the method?
Expect fine bead, brioche, citrus, toast and lively debate.
A global tasting. A single house. One question:
Can you taste the difference?
