Clare Juan and Nicholas Kennedy share a unique musical background: both were trained jointly as cellists and pianists, before pursuing specialised studies on their current primary instruments in Australia and the UK. Together they bring world-class performance to their home cities, performed on the cello that belonged to two British Kings.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Clare Juan is an Australian cellist having performed frequently in leading venues such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall. As an avid chamber musician, she has performed alongside the Marmen Quartet and Ensemble 360 and her piano trio recently won 2nd prize and Audience prize at Wigmore Hall’s Cavatina Chamber Competition. For the 2025/2026 season, Clare will be working alongside the Edinburgh Quartet as their apprentice, joining them at various concerts as a member of the quartet. Clare is currently studying with Gemma Rosefield at the Royal College of Music as the The Sir Peter & Lady Walters Scholar supported by the Pauline Hartley Award as well as Help Musicians UK, the Royal Philharmonic Society and the TAIT Performing Arts Association. Clare plays on a cello made by William Forster Junior in 1804, commissioned by George IV and previously owned by His Majesty King Charles III, loaned to her by the Royal College of Music, London.
An alumnus of Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, pianist-scholar Dr Nicholas Kennedy performs extensively as a concerto soloist, recitalist, and collaborative artist. He was Open Instrumental Winner of the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition 2023, and his debut album, The Last Piano Sonatas, was released on the Orpheus Classical label in 2021. Additionally, he is a published author in nineteenth-century music analysis, and in demand as an adjudicator and concert reviewer. Nicholas is currently Associate Lecturer in Collaborative Piano and Musicology at SCM.
