Returning for its seventh year, Words Out West is a month-long celebration of storytelling, creativity, and connection across the Western Downs. From school programs and pub sessions to glamourous literary evenings and immersive retreats, this vibrant festival brings together acclaimed authors, poets and storytellers for unforgettable experiences.

Curiosity, creativity and enquiry without barriers - that's what Words Out West School Days are all about! Students are invited to engage with key literacy themes through a range of workshops, presentations, and hands-on activities.

Books & Bubbles: A Night of Crime Chinchilla Saturday 13 June

Writer’s Retreat: Bunya Mountains Saturday 20 June
Set at the stunning Bunya Mountains, this retreat offers a day of inspiration and creativity in nature with two fabulous sessions.
