Session 1
Supplementary Exercise to Improve Extensions and Jumps in Dance – Part 2
Join Emma Sulley, Specialist Sports and Dance Physiotherapist, for an interactive professional development workshop designed specifically for Perth dance teachers who want to elevate both performance and longevity in their dancers.
This practical, hands-on session focuses on closing the gap between current dance science and real-world ballet teaching. You’ll have the opportunity to see, feel and experience the exercises firsthand — gaining studio-ready strategies you can confidently implement straight away.
Together we will explore:
• How to find clean, efficient rotation and translate it into higher, more controlled extensions
• The mobility required for expressive lines and powerful jumps — and how to develop it safely
• Dance-specific strength training exercises to enhance allegro
The workshop will also provide clear guidance on integrating these strategies into class planning and daily training, equipping you with practical tools to help dancers build strength, resilience and long-term durability — without compromising artistry.
If you are committed to helping your dancers extend with greater control, jump with more power, and train in a way that supports sustainable development, this session will give you actionable tools you can use immediately in your studio.
Emma is an APA Titled Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 24 years’ experience working with elite dancers and athletes.
Session 2:
Elizabeth (Liz) Cumming

• Practical strategies to support healthier, more resilient dancers
