About
Ballet Collective Australia (BCA) invites dancers aged approximately 10–14 years to audition for our 2026 Junior Performance Cast.BCA is a national pre-professional performance program bringing together talented young dancers from across Australia. Our goal is to work together in a company environment, not compete against each other.
Successful dancers will train in their home state with an industry professional across several rehearsal weekends in May, June & July, before joining dancers from around the country to perform together Sydney in August 2026.
Our goal is to provide serious young dancers with a professional rehearsal experience, exposure to leading artists, and the opportunity to work as part of a national ensemble.
What the audition includes:
The Junior audition class is designed to assess technique, musicality, performance quality, focus and coachability in a supportive studio environment.
Dancers will participate in:
• 1.5 hour Classical Ballet Class
• 30 minute Pointe Work Class (pointe shoes required where appropriate)
• 1 hour Ballet Collective Australia Repertoire
The full audition runs for approximately 3 hours.

SYDNEY
Friday 8 May 2026
5:30pm – 8:30pm
MELBOURNE
Sunday 10 May 2026
10:00am – 1:00pm
(Please book the location most relevant to you. Dancers only need to attend one audition.)
FAQ:
What happens if selected?
Successful dancers will:
• Rehearse in their home state across several scheduled weekends (May–July 2026)
• Be coached by an industry professional mentor in their home state
• Learn professional repertoire
• Perform alongside dancers from across Australia at the Sydney Opera House on the 2nd of August 2026.
Further details will be provided to selected dancers.
Who should audition?
This program is suitable for:
• Dedicated ballet students
• Dancers training multiple times per week
• Students interested in pre-professional pathways
• Dancers ready for a serious rehearsal commitment
What to bring
• Tights, leotard (no loose clothing). For boys, a unitard.
• Pointe shoes (if dancers are not yet en pointe, they will still be able to fully participate in the audition in flats, and this will not impact their eligibility to be accepted into the cast)
• Hair in a neat classical bun/boys with hair neat
• Water bottle
